Precision cleaning and vapour degreasing solvent, and a two-phase immersion cooling fluid for data centers. KB value 16 · GWP 14 · boiling point 50°C. An alternative to 3M Novec 7100 and 7200, discontinued in 2025, supplied in Korea by authorized distributor Wholesale Industry.
3M announced the discontinuation of its PFAS product portfolio in December 2022, taking final orders for Novec and Fluorinert in March 2025 and ending manufacture and shipment in December 2025. Novec 7100 and 7200 — long the standard in precision cleaning and vapour degreasing — can no longer be purchased new as genuine product. HFMOP is a fluorinated fluid that fills this gap, and per HQ documentation it remains in continuous commercial production.
Comparison with competing precision-cleaning fluids, based on HQ technical data.
There is no universal cleaning solvent. A cleaning fluid is chosen to match the contamination.
Wherever fluorinated lubricants are present — that is HFMOP’s territory.
Oxygen and chlorine service equipment maintenance (hydrocarbon-free cleaning requirements), vacuum pump overhaul (residual fluid wash-out), semiconductor tool PM (PFPE grease removal) — precisely the duties where the now-discontinued Novec 7100 and 7200 were the standard. If you were using Novec there, HFMOP is your candidate. We also supply those very lubricants — Halocarbon PCTFE oils, HaloVac, KF greases — lubricant and cleaning solvent from one channel.
Classification reflects the established application record of HFE-class solvents; HFMOP’s own solvency spectrum is being confirmed with HQ. We run a free cleaning trial on your actual soiled parts before adoption. Aluminium and zinc parts require prior consultation (listed as incompatible in the SDS).

Based on HQ technical data, HFMOP has the highest KB value (cleaning power) and latent heat among the fluids compared, and the lowest GWP and atmospheric lifetime apart from Novec 1230. For precision cleaning and vapour degreasing this means cleaning power and environmental figures together; for two-phase immersion cooling it means phase-change efficiency.
The use identified in the SDS is vapour degreasing and vapour cleaning.
With a KB value of 16 and 0.0 nonvolatile residue — and, distinctively, removal of fluorinated oils and greases (PFPE·PCTFE), a niche ordinary solvents cannot serve — it is used for precision cleaning of semiconductors and electronic components, vapor degreasing, anti-fouling coating carrier, and as a dilution/dispersion solvent. Compatible with ABS, PC, Epoxy, Phenol, PEEK, PTFE and PU (no change after 24-hour immersion); acrylic requires review.
Servers are immersed directly in the fluid; the heat makes the fluid boil and vaporize, then a condenser returns it to liquid in a continuous two-phase cooling loop. With a boiling point of 50°C and latent heat of vaporization of 179 kJ/kg, HFMOP provides properties suited to phase-change cooling. It is a dielectric fluid intended for direct immersion of electronics; however, the test standard and electrode gap behind our dielectric strength figure are being confirmed with HQ, so please contact us before design adoption. The SDS records the flash point as greater than 93°C with no flash observed during testing.
Other applications — thermal-transfer medium and reliability testing, fire-protection fluid, and drainage solvent. If you need single-phase immersion cooling, also consider the PCTFE-based Halocarbon 0.8 / 1.8 Oil.
Where HFMOP can cover the discontinued grade — and where it cannot. We have said so plainly.

Our strength sits around a boiling point of 50 °C, and HFMOP has a GWP of 14.
Most Novec replacement fluids on the market cluster at 56 °C and above. Processes built around Novec 649 (49 °C)
or 7000 (34 °C) are therefore hard to match one-to-one. HFMOP, at 50 °C, sits closest to that band.
Conversely, the high-boiling range of 76 °C and above does not suit our fluid — and in those cases we will not push it.
Boiling points and GWP figures are taken from HQ technical documentation (HFMOP New Solvent) and manufacturers' published data; values differ slightly between sources. Novec 649 has a GWP of 1 but new supply ended in December 2025 and is no longer purchasable. Where GWP is shown as —, no value appears in the documentation we hold. HFMOP properties are per HQ technical documentation; the SDS is available in our resource library. Please evaluate against your own process conditions and materials before adoption.
HFMOP falls within the OECD 2021 definition of PFAS. That definition is applied at the carbon-atom level rather than to the molecule as a whole — any fully fluorinated carbon (-CF3 or -CF2-) brings a substance into scope. We therefore do not describe this product as “PFAS-free”.
3M’s withdrawal from Novec was a corporate decision, not a legal prohibition. Korea currently has no comprehensive PFAS restriction, while the EU REACH universal PFAS restriction remains in progress. If your procurement standards include PFAS provisions, please confirm them in advance. Thermal decomposition products include hydrogen fluoride (HF), and aluminium and zinc are listed as incompatible materials in the SDS.
Tell us the cleaning fluid you currently use and your process conditions (what you clean, type of contamination, part materials, equipment type, monthly consumption), and we'll respond with an HFMOP suitability review plus a sample and quote. Genuine product supplied direct from HQ, with SDS and technical data provided.
